In the following we provide you with some useful travel information.
ARRIVAL (June 25)
Tartu is located in Southern part of Estonia, 180 km from our capital city
Tallinn. On 25th of June you will presumably first arrive in Tallinn
using plane, ferry, etc. Both, Airport and the Sea Terminal are very close to
the city center. We recommend you to leave your luggage at
Air Terminal (Sea Terminal) since the Conference bus Tallinn-Tartu will visit terminals
after the Walking Tour with you on the board. Alternatively you can take taxi to the hotel Viru (center)
where you can leave your luggage for some hours. The Guided Walking Tour
starts at 13.30 from the lounge of the Hotel Viru. After the Walking
Tour, there will be a charter bus from Tallinn to Tartu starting at 16.00. The
bus will be in Tartu by 19.00 and visit your hotel.
DEPARTURE (June 30)
The first part of your return travel is the trip from Tartu to Tallinn (capital
city). You can best do this trip by bus. Buses make a stop at the Air
Terminal in Tallinn. Organizers will help you to obtain bus tickets in Tartu.
The bus traffic between Tartu and Tallinn is very frequent, so you can
always choose a suitable departure time from Tartu.
GENERAL TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
BUSES
There are numerous buses operating between Tallinn and Tartu every day
(more than 60 departures). In Tallinn, the distance from Airport to Bus
Station is 2 km, and from Sea Terminal to Bus Station - 3 km. The bus
ticket Tallinn-Tartu costs about EEK 125 (EUR 8), depending on
the company. The time on the way - 2h30min.
